How to use the savings calculator

Using our calculator can help you quickly estimate the return on your investment. To use this calculator, you'll need the following information:

Line Items

Required Data

Worker & Shift Data

Number of workers per shift refers to the number of workers allocated to manual sack emptying per shift.

Number of shifts per day (i.e., 1,2,3)

Number of workdays per week has a default of 5. Change if required.

Annual salary per worker is the average annual cost per worker involved in manual sack emptying.

Material Data

The calculator differentiates between material received in sacks, and material received in bulk (i.e., train or tanker).

Tons of raw material in SACKs is an estimate/daily average to the amount of sacks opened and emptied.

Raw material in sacks is a dollar amount of the cost per ton.

Estimated loss on material during manual emptying is a percentage. This is an estimate.

Tons of raw material in bulk and the cost is for factories receiving in bulk.

Generally there is a premium paid for the bulk delivery. The third line is the cost of the material in bulk, but had it been received in sacks.

If your factory receives material in bulk once per week/month, convert the amount for days.

Work Stoppage Data

Work stoppages due to absent workers, or hopper contamination can have a ripple effect on operations. These lines can reach high numbers which are often overlooked.
